The realistic details of these sturdy little toys came as quite a surprise to me when first I began to collect them. The colors are those most favored by children back then (and probably today). Playing with these toys requires imagination and, well, a bit of exercise. My toys and I	always played outdoors where nature provided many things to bring me into a living fantasy world. Can such toys as these compete with online gaming? With videos? With chats and tweets? I fear the answer is NO, so it is a good thing that they can be seen in many active collections.

Playing with these toys requires imagination and, well, a bit of exercise. Whe I was a child, My toys and I always played outdoors where nature provided many things to bring me into a living fantasy world. Can such toys as these compete with online gaming? With videos? With chats and tweets?

I fear the answer is "No!", so it is a good thing that they can be seen in many active collections around the world.

A highly customized version of the 1937 Oldsmobile the Museum calls The Joker. Fenders are cut open very high, almost to the point of resembling cycle fenders; runningboards and bumpers are cut away. The car body is painted white, with diagonal green stripes across the hood. The front end sheet metal and the trunk are bright red, as are the fenders. The passenger's door is solid black. Perhaps time or inclination or paint ran out. Just above it is an original, red '37 sedan. The Joker from slightly above and along the passenger side of the sedan. Just above it is a '39 Plymouth.

The factory failed to drill for and install axles and wheels on this orange red sedan A Christmas green over red, 1940 Oldsmobile with closed fenders. It has silver windows, grill and headlights. The body is long and low, and is 6 inches long. The driver can be seen cast with the car in the driver-side window.

A pairing of '36 coupes. First a hot-rodder and restorer's dream find. The other is a radically redone coupe, paint undone, fenders and runningboards removed. A red 1936 coupe. Nothing fancy, but beautiful in its simplicity. Certainly hot rodders think so.

This is a trio of lovely 1939 Plymouth two doors, seen from the upper front. One is red, one is green, and in the middle is one that is yellow with black fenders and running boards. The bumpers are silver and the wheels are white. Front quarter view of a red and a green '39 Plymouth. They have the lovely, sweeping styling of the 1940 Ford coupes except of course that they are Plymouths. Yes, lovely.

			and the entire back end of the body removed to leave the rear fenders as stand-alone body extensions and no remaining trunk at all. Instead, there is a panel just behind the back seat. The rear axle and wheels attach to this with the usual Auburn clip. There is no sign of any bondo or gluing, although the front skirts clearly have been cut out by a previous owner. All paint appears to be original. The custom body is a masterpiece. This is a view from overhead, down and along the driver's side.
